This small-group tour heads beyond the usual Byron Bay spots to show you a quieter side of the area. It combines time on a stand-up paddleboard with nature-based stops including a swim in the ti tree lake and a walk through Broken Head Nature Reserve. If you want more than a standard sightseeing trip and do not mind being active, this is a good way to get outdoors and see places you would probably miss on your own.
Why backpackers love it
It is a solid option if you want an active day trip without having to organise gear or figure out lesser-known spots yourself. The mix of paddleboarding, swimming and walking keeps it varied, and the small-group feel suits travellers who would rather get out in nature than join a bigger bus-style tour. It is not the cheapest Byron activity, but you are getting a longer, more personal outing with equipment included.
Over roughly half a day, you will explore a mix of water and coastal landscapes around Byron Bay. A stand-up paddleboard is included, and there is also time for a swim in the ti tree lake. The tour then takes in Broken Head Nature Reserve, where you follow winding forest paths out to the Three Sisters Lookout. From there, expect big coastal views and access to a more secluded beach setting. You will need swimmers, a towel, shoes and water, and a moderate fitness level is recommended.
