This three-day K'gari trip from Hervey Bay is a more comfortable way to see the island without organising your own transport or camping setup. It includes two nights of accommodation, starting with a pre-night stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort, then a two-day guided 4WD coach tour across both coasts of the world's largest sand island. You'll visit well-known spots like Lake McKenzie and Pile Valley, with time for lesser-known places including Lake Wabby. National Park fees, fuel levies, hotel transfers and tea and coffee are included.

What to expect

The trip begins with transfer arrangements from Hervey Bay and a ferry crossing timed to suit your travel plans, followed by your first night at Kingfisher Bay Resort. You'll have access to the resort facilities before heading out on the guided 4WD coach tour over the next two days. Your local guide takes you to a mix of headline stops and quieter corners of the island, including the clear water of Lake McKenzie, the rainforest at Pile Valley and the hidden dune-fringed Lake Wabby. Expect a full sightseeing schedule and some walking, so a moderate fitness level is needed. Bring zinc sunscreen, a hat and swimwear.

  • Your accommodation will require a credit card pre-authorisation of AU$100 per day plus AU$200 refundable bond to a maximum of AU$500. In the event that no credit card is available, full payment and a bond deposit of AU$100 per day to a maximum of AU$500 is required.
  • Recommended for guests to bring their own front-facing infant seats. Limited child seats are available at an additional charge on request.
  • Please note we do not carry children under the age of 1 and no refund will be given.
  • Please note that Queensland law requires all guests travelling on our coaches to wear seat belts at all times, failure to do so could result in a Queensland Government fine.
  • The commencement of hotel pickups is approximately 2 hours prior to the departure time of the tour, you must make telephone contact with the local service provider to book the pickup and verify the exactness of your pickup time, this must be done at least 48hrs prior to the departure.
